Authentication of photocopies
The authentication of photocopies does not represent the “authentication” of the document, nor does it replace the Hague Convention Apostille. An “authenticated copy” is a photocopy of the original document (birth certificate, transcript, passport, etc.), sealed and signed by the Consulate to certify that it is a true copy of the original. The authentication of a photocopy does not attest to the authenticity or the content of the original document.
Documents may be submitted in person or mail the original, along withe the copies of the document you wish to authenticate, along with a money order for the consular fee of US$ 20 for each page to be authenticated. If done by mail, please provide a prepaid postage envelope to return original and authenticated copies of the document. Money order must be payable to the “Consulate General of Argentina in Chicago.” We don’t accept cash or personal checks. You must also provide a photocopy of a Picture ID.
